Economic Development
Ameristar Casinos help support vibrant economies in the cities where we operate. Our high quality products are popular entertainment destinations for local and regional visitors. We make significant capital investments to build our casinos, and we continue to expand and enhance our products through ongoing capital
expenditures. We create jobs to grow local economies. These are both direct jobs, in the case of the
Team Members we employ; and indirect jobs, when we hire outside vendors to purchase goods and services. We are committed to buying from local vendors; with a significant percentage of our company purchases during 2006 made from vendors within a 100-mile radius of our casinos.
We pay state and local taxes, in many cases with an effective tax rate higher than most businesses. Our tax payments support improvements to city infrastructure like roads, community centers and schools.

Good Citizenship
At Ameristar, we proudly support the communities where we live and work through our charitable giving program called Ameristar Cares. This three-part effort includes financial contributions to nonprofit organizations, our annual Team Member Workplace Giving Campaign and Team Member volunteerism.
During 2007, the company and its Team Members donated more than $8.65 million to charitable organizations in the markets where we do business. Our Team Members are active volunteers in their hometowns, each year giving hundreds of hours of their time for worthy causes such as the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation's Great Strides Walks, the American Cancer Society Relay for Life, Habitat for Humanity and many local organizations.
We are also committed to responsible gaming, with comprehensive and long-standing programs to address underage and compulsive gambling, as well as responsible alcohol consumption.
